Motorcyclist killed, another injured in crash in Las Vegas over the weekend

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One motorcyclist is dead and another is fighting for his life after two valley crashes last weekend.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the first crash occurred on Bonanza Road and Tonopah Road on Friday around 9:40 p.m. Initial investigation revealed a 2012 Harley Davidson FLHXI “Street Glide” was traveling westbound on Bonanza along with a group of other motorcycles.

The Harley Davidson entered a two-way center turn lane and sped past other drivers. The driver then crashed into the raised median and went airborne, police said.

Arriving medical teams transferred the 51-year-old man to UMC Travma, where he later died.

“The motorcyclist’s death marks the 138th traffic-related death in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2024,” LVMPD said in a statement.

The second accident occurred at around 01.08 on Saturday morning on Racel Street, west of Grazing Grass Street. Police said the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a bend in the road and went onto the sidewalk.

The motorcyclist then went into a ditch and was thrown from his bike. Arriving crews helped transport him to UMC Trauma, where he is now in critical condition.

Investigations into both accidents are ongoing.
