Humboldt Coast Guard rescued three boaters on the Klamath River near Wautec

The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in Humboldt said three people were rescued from the Klamath River after their 5-foot jet boat ran aground just north of Wautec on the Yurok Reservation.

The Coast Guard said the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office called at 4:22 p.m. after their boat was unable to reach the stranded jet boat due to draft restrictions.

A helicopter crew was later dispatched to assist, the USCG said. When the crew arrived, they lifted the boaters onto the plane and transferred them to nearby Sheriff’s deputies.

No injuries or medical problems were reported.

Humboldt deputies then said they would work with the boaters to get the jet boats back.
