Woman injured in hunting accident in Douglas County – Alexandria Echo Press

CARLOS — A Hastings woman was injured in a deer hunting accident Saturday, Nov. 9, in Belle River Township, two miles east of Carlos.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 9:33 a.m. reporting that 64-year-old Elizabeth Drexler had tripped near the deer stand and fallen, breaking her arm. As deputies and first responders arrived, they learned Drexler and his hunting partner were about a mile into the woods near 12058 Fairfield Creek Road NE.

With the help of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Carlos First Responders and North Memorial Ambulance, deputies were able to safely get Drexler out of the woods. He was transported to Alomere Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

Carlos First Responders, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Northern Memorial Ambulance assisted at the scene.

While these hunters are appropriately dressed for deer hunting, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota DNR reminded everyone that during open-fire/muzzle-loading deer seasons, all hunters and trappers in the field must wear bright orange or bright pink on the visible portion of their hats. and outer garments above the waist, excluding sleeves and gloves.

Our newsroom occasionally publishes stories under “staff.” Most often, the signature “staff” is used when rewriting basic news summaries from official sources, such as a city press release about road closures, that require little or no reporting. Sometimes this signature is used when there are many authors in a news story or when the news is created by bringing together previously reported news from various sources. If external sources are used, it is stated in the story.
