Bangko Sentral to investigate GCash operator

The operator of GCash, the country’s largest mobile payment service, will be investigated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and has also been ordered to immediately address unauthorized outages reported by users over the weekend.

G-Xchange Inc., the central bank said on Monday. It said it is actively monitoring the actions taken by (GXI) and has asked the firm to provide regular updates on how it is resolving the issue.

He called on GXI to expedite the refund process and ensure that affected users’ balances are restored without delay.

GXI blamed the system error for unauthorized outages reported by many users over the weekend. BSP and customers have been told that all GCash accounts remain secure and refund efforts are ongoing.

“(BSP) will investigate the incident further to identify possible vulnerabilities and review compliance with regulations and policies,” the central bank said.

He appealed to affected customers to coordinate with GXI to resolve complaints, adding that if they are dissatisfied with GXI’s management, consumers can raise their concerns with the BSP Online Buddy (BOB)’ facility.
