Oregon Ducks Projections in College Football Playoff Rankings, Predictions

EUGENE — Oregon Ducks Maryland remained the No. 1 team in the country by defeating the Terrapins 39-18. The Ducks are 10-0 for the first time since 2012 and maintain perfect standing in the College Football Playoff standings.

Some programs’ national championship dreams were in danger in the 11th week. college football season. The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs are one of those teams with a loss to the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels. Georgia’s 28-10 loss to Ole Miss marked the second time under coach Kirby Smart that the Bulldogs lost two SEC regular season games in a non-COVID season.

In the past, two regular-season losses have been a deal-breaker for the CFP selection committee. GeorgiaWhile their ranking will undoubtedly take a big hit, they still have a chance to chase their national championship goal. However, the Bulldogs face a challenge in Week 12 as they climb to No. 6. Tennessee Volunteers A must-win game for Georgia on Saturday, November 16th.

This season, the CFP expanded from four to 12 teams for the first time in history, giving programs a little more leeway than in previous seasons. This expansion allows two-loss teams like Georgia to still make the postseason. The expansion also benefits the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes, who were upset by an unranked Georgia Tech team on Saturday.

Miami still has a chance to make the CFP as they can advance to the ACC Championship. Both Georgia and Miami fell outside the top 10 in the AP Top-25 Poll. They could face a similar decline when the CFP rankings are released on Tuesday.

Indiana Hoosiers They are also fighting for a spot in the CFP, but unlike Georgia and Miami, the Hoosiers have yet to lose a game and have a 10-0 record after beating Michigan 20-15. The Ducks and Hoosiers are the only two undefeated teams in the league. Big Ten Conferencebut due to strength of schedule and margin of victory, Indiana still ranks behind Ohio State in the AP and CFP rankings as it tries to get into the running for the national championship and Big Ten championship.

The Hoosiers have a bye week before facing one of their biggest tests yet. Ohio State Buckeyes There could be a match in the top five.

The No. 9 BYU Cougars narrowly escaped the Utah Utes in a game that came down to the wire. No. 11 Alabama dominated the No. 15 LSU Tigers, winning 42-13 in Baton Rouge, and No. 5 Texas also defeated the Florida Gators at DKR over the weekend.

The first CFP rankings were released on November 5 and will be published every Tuesday until December 3. The final ranking will be announced on Sunday, December 8.

The Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes will likely be the top two spots in the CFP standings on Tuesday. If they meet again Big Ten ChampionshipThe winner of the game is in a good position to secure the No. 1 seed.

The playoff seeding includes eight of the top 12 teams in the Big Ten and SEC conferences, making it difficult for the ACC and Big 12 to receive multiple bids.

The Big 12 faces a tougher road with BYU as the highest ranked team at No. 9. The Cougars will need a perfect season or a conference championship to stay in playoff contention. For more than one Big 12 team to make the playoffs, several teams in the top 12 must lose and BYU, Iowa State, Kansas State and Colorado must win.

The ACC has a better chance of placing the two teams in the playoffs, as the SMU Mustangs, currently ranked 14th, have moved up the standings with an 8-1 record. SMU one convenient location Compared to other ACC teams outside of Miami, however, they will need both consistent wins and positive results in other conference play to feel secure in the playoff field.
