Man shot by police in West Jordan taken to hospital

West Jordan • A person was taken to hospital after police responded to an officer shooting the person in the early hours of Sunday morning.

West Jordan Police tell FOX 13 News the shooting happened around 2 a.m. in the Hoyle Circle neighborhood near 5600 West 7000 South as officers responded to reports of a suicidal person.

Police teams arrived at the scene and talked to the person who the police claimed had a sharp-edged weapon. During the call, the person fled to a home in the area and police said they knew children were inside.

An officer fired his weapon, wounding the man, and he was later transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

No officers were injured. Combined Police took over the investigation under the Officer’s Critical Incident Protocol.
