Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar on Sunday called for a comprehensive review of Israel’s membership in the United Nations due to the horrific atrocities in Gaza.

Speaking at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, Dar condemned Israel’s actions in Palestine, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq, describing them as an expansion of war crimes that threaten regional stability.

Dar said, “Israel’s ongoing aggression has endangered peace in the Middle East. War crimes are increasing and the international community, especially the United Nations, must take urgent action.” he said.

He emphasized the need for an arms embargo on Israel and called on the UN to take decisive measures to prevent further escalation.

Dar underlined Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and praised the efforts of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation towards peace in the region. “The Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have made commendable efforts to highlight and address the crisis facing Palestine.” he said.

During his speech, Dar also advocated a coordinated approach between Arab and Islamic nations. He proposed the appointment of a joint envoy to facilitate the implementation of decisions taken at recent Arab-Islamic summits.

He suggested that the envoy would help ensure consistent progress on diplomatic fronts by focusing on establishing an independent Palestinian state.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister praised Saudi Arabia for hosting the launch of the Global Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution. “The establishment of this coalition is a meaningful step towards Palestinian independence and guarantees a two-state solution within a certain time frame.” he said.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s humanitarian contributions to Palestine and said that Pakistan has sent twelve aid to Gaza since last year and continues to support Palestinian students with scholarships to Pakistani institutions. “We call on the international community to actively participate in resolving this humanitarian crisis,” Dar said. he added.

The meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation took place one day before the second Arab-Islamic Summit planned to be held on November 11, where a solution to the escalating crises in Gaza and the Middle East is expected to be found. Host country Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing diplomatic and humanitarian efforts through both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League by supporting initiatives aimed at ending the Israeli occupation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to attend the summit, where he is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to humanitarian suffering in Gaza.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation ministers will meet leaders from the Arab and Islamic worlds on Monday to address the worsening situation, building on decisions and aid commitments made at the 2023 summit, where widespread international calls were made to support Palestinian self-determination and address ongoing humanitarian aid challenges. crisis.
