The phrase ‘terminally ill’ is included in the title of the UK’s proposals

An MLC believes changing the name of the assisted dying bill could ease some people’s fears about the proposals.

Campaign groups have expressed concerns that the criteria for assisted dying could be expanded if the law comes into force.

A number of alternative names for the bill were considered when it was debated in the Keys House earlier this year. While similar proposals in the UK include the phrase ‘terminally ill’ in the title.
