Bomet Medical Officer Speaks After Child Died in Hospital in Uncertain Conditions

BometGeneral Director of Health Felix Kipkorir Lang’at sent a message of condolence family The story of a child who died under mysterious circumstances at the Longisa County Referral Hospital.

On Sunday, November 10, a viral video of a child groaning in pain in hospital left Kenyans heartbroken over the state of healthcare in Bomet County.

In the footage, nurses can be seen making light conversation while the child lies unattended on the floor.

Two children, a boy and a girl, who were stung by bees, were taken to Longisa Hospital for treatment.

In a chilling account, a netizen who allegedly witnessed the incident claimed that the hospital demanded a deposit of KSh5,000 for ambulance service and KSh80.00 for referral to Tenwek AGC Hospital.

The child’s mother sought help from a PSV driver, who graciously agreed to take the children to AGC Tenwek Hospital.

Unfortunately, a child succumbed to pain and injuries as a result of a bee attack on the road due to the delay in his treatment.

However, in a post on his Facebook page, Lang’at stated that district officials are meeting with hospital management to determine what led to the minor’s death.

Lang’at announced that action will be taken against paramedics who are found to have acted unprofessionally during the incident.

“We express our condolences to the family of the little boy. We are currently working on this issue with the entire management. We will give the full chronology of events in a few minutes. Action will be taken against anyone who is found to be in the wrong, but Lang’at said, “The truth will come out after the meeting.”
