Harris Fought to Use Abortion as Key Issue in 2024 US Elections | N18G

Kamala Harris’ White House campaign is pushing for the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Roe v., which ends federal abortion rights. He focused on mobilizing voters upset with the decision to overturn the Wade case. Despite Harris’ efforts, exit polls showed that abortion was not a top priority for most voters; Only 14% cited abortion as their primary issue, while nearly a third said the economy was their main concern. Harris did better than Trump with female voters (53% to 45%), but her share of the women’s vote was less than Biden’s in 2020, and Trump had a 3 percentage point gain among women. While Harris campaigned for a federal law that would restore abortion rights, Trump argued that the issue should be left to the states. As abortion laws become state-specific, future state-level elections, especially elections for state supreme courts, will be vital in determining access to abortion.
