Experienced Oregon hiker found dead in Mount Hood National Forest after search

An experienced hiker who was reported missing Wednesday was found dead in the Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon on Friday, officials said.

hikerThe man, who was last heard from at 14:00 on Wednesday, was only expected to go for a daily walk and did not have any night equipment with him.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the hiker’s family reported the 33-year-old missing at 7:30 that evening.

County search teams were mobilized and rescuers quickly located the hiker’s tracks in the snow near Paradise Park Trail in southeast Portland.

The hiker’s body was found near Hidden Lake Trail just before 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Officials said the hiker will be identified once the family is notified.

“At this time, the Sheriff’s Office does not believe this death appears suspicious,” the department said.

“The Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue the investigation to determine the cause of death,” the statement added.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the National Park Service for comment.

At the end of October, a 24-year-old hiker from Texas also found dead in Big Bend National Park.

The National Park Service said this hiker was found along the 22-mile Marufo Vega Trail, which winds through rugged desert and rocky cliffs.

“Big Bend National Park staff and partners are saddened by this loss,” said Deputy Superintendent Rick Gupman. “Our entire park family extends its condolences to the hiker’s family and friends.”
