The suspects are reportedly linked to separate incidents in November 2023 and August 2024, which resulted in the shooting deaths of two taxi owners, a taxi driver and a taxi association member.

“Two of the suspects were arrested at the Mall of Africa in Midrand on Friday, and another was arrested in East London on Saturday,” national police spokeswoman Athlenda Mathe said.

Video of the arrest at the popular mall is circulating on social media.

“The other four suspects also seen in this video were interrogated by the SAPS,” Mathe said.

“Police seized four pistols and an AK47 from the suspects. The firearms and rifles were subjected to ballistic tests to determine their connection to murders and other serious and violent crimes.”
