Bronny James said he is “excited” to leave the Los Angeles Lakers and spend more minutes with the team as they join the G League.

James made his debut for the South Bay Lakers during Saturday night’s 110-96 victory over the visiting Salt Lake City Stars.

James told reporters: “I’ve seen all the rumors and things that I’m going to go down to the G – so up to the G, not down.” “It’s a great experience for me to go out there and play my game and get under my belt for a few minutes. I’m excited for it.”

James scored for the first time, shooting from 5 meters away, just 43 seconds into the match.

“I was just getting a bucket… I didn’t miss,” James said of his first G League points.

James said he was “feeling pretty good” overall in his G League debut.

The player, who was selected with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, played 31 minutes on Saturday night and recorded 6 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in the stands at the Lakers’ training ground with his father LeBron James and Lakers teammate Anthony Davis.

James averaged under three minutes per night in five games with the Lakers this season, recording four total points and two assists before moving to the G League.
