As Remembrance Sunday approaches, large numbers of poppies have been put on display in Wiltshire, where thousands of military personnel are based and the site of the major Salisbury Plain training area.

Each year the Royal British Legion opens a Field of Remembrance in Lydiard Park, Swindon. It is one of six in the UK, more than three thousand markers, each erected in memory of someone who has lost their life in service.

Meanwhile, medieval Salisbury Cathedral fills with crowds in the evening for the Sarum Lights event, an immersive time-themed light and sound show.
