Gunmen attacked a bar in the central Mexican city of Queretaro on Saturday, November 10, 2024, killing 10 people, a local security official said.

The attackers opened fire at the Los Cantaritos bar in the city’s historic district, according to Juan Luis Ferrusca, head of Queretaro’s public security department.

“Emergency services attended the scene and confirmed that at least four men armed with long guns had boarded a pickup truck,” he said in a video posted on social media.

“It has been reported that 10 people have died inside and at least seven have been injured so far,” he added.

Ferrusca said a suspect was detained and the vehicle used in the attack was found abandoned and set on fire.

Queretaro is considered one of Mexico’s safest cities, where more than 450,000 people have been killed since 2006 in escalating violence, many linked to drug trafficking and gangs.
