Halkırk 2 wind power plant, which will be operational soon, was closed on Friday due to turbine failure.

A Capital Power representative said a nacelle and rotor fell off one of the turbines at the Paintearth County facility around 7:20 a.m.

According to the Capital Power website, the turbines at the Halkirk 2 facility are the largest the company has ever installed, with blades measuring 74 meters long.

There were no injuries or damage to public property in the incident.

A security measure was then implemented throughout the facility.

The area of ​​each of the towers and the area around them have been secured and an investigation has been launched, the spokesman said.

The facility is expected to become operational later this year.
