Horror details in alleged murder of 15-year-old boy

The man accused of murdering a 15-year-old boy found dead in woodland allegedly said “I’ll cut off your fucking hand” before cutting the teenager with a knife, a court heard. .

Emergency services rushed to Wilton Park Road in Wilton at around 7.25am on Saturday morning and found the Picton boy’s body lying in bushland next to the road.

Jacob Greig was arrested after attending Narellan Police Station shortly after 4pm on Saturday following a public appeal for information.

He was charged with murder and refused to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

Mr. Grieg appeared via a video livestream attended by three of his family members.

The court was told that the 15-year-old victim tried to open the rear passenger door of the vehicle Mr Grieg was in, and in video and audio recordings of the incident the victim said “I’m trying to go home”.

At one point Mr Grieg exited the vehicle and Judge Robert Rabbidge said the footage allegedly captured Mr Grieg saying “I’m going to save you”.

The court was told he then allegedly said: “I’m going to cut your f*cking hand off.”

Mr Rabbidge said Mr Grieg allegedly told police he “cut the victim before returning to the vehicle”.

But the footage allegedly showed Mr Grieg pursuing the victim on foot, the court was told.

Mr Rabbidge said: “The facts show that the issue occurred before the injury… The defendant had threatened to kill the teenager and cut off his hand.”

He said the victim, who was cut with a knife, “lost a lot of blood.”

“It appears to be a very strong case, I accept that when I cut the young person with the knife I caused a serious laceration to the victim’s right forearm… the victim began to bleed profusely,” the judge said.

The victim tried to jump into the car as it drove away, and his friends found him dead the next morning.

The court was told a trail of blood was found stretching approximately 30 meters towards the end of Wilton Road.

“A lot depends on the autopsy, which has not yet taken place, but I note the facts that at 7.30 the next morning the victim’s friends were walking from the camp. I found the victim covered in blood,” Mr Rabbidge said.

“There is nothing more serious than the alleged murder of a 15-year-old teenager,” he said.

“The facts seem to show quite extraordinary and quite strong evidence.

“This is clearly an unusual case… Mr. Grieg faces decades of imprisonment.

“I must do my duty to society and refuse him bail.”

Inspector Tim Calaman told reporters on Saturday that a group of about 12 teenagers had camped in the area overnight and the entire group was being questioned in connection with the teenager’s death.

Police believe the incident occurred on Friday evening but they were not notified until 7.35am the next morning.

The inspector said this was a tragic incident and his thoughts were with the boy’s family.

“They’re going to make things difficult this afternoon as family and some friends go through this process,” he said.

The boy’s family was informed of his death on Saturday.

More to come.
