LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – A woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Lake Charles Friday night when her vehicle crashed head-on into a delivery van.

According to Louisiana State Police (LSP) TFC Matt Gaspard, the crash killed 60-year-old Donna Chimeno of Lake Charles.

The accident involving three vehicles occurred at around 5pm on Friday, November 8, at the intersection of Nelson Road and Plantation Drive.

LSP investigators said Chimeno was traveling southbound on Nelson Road in the outside lane when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the left lane and struck an SUV driven by an off-duty Calcasieu County sheriff’s deputy. Chimeno’s vehicle then crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a delivery van.

Despite being properly restrained, Chimeno suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Gaspard, none of the other passengers involved escaped uninjured in the crash.

The investigation into the accident continues.
