ISLAMORADA, FLA. (WSVN) – One person died and two others were hospitalized in a boating accident near the Florida Keys, authorities said.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, watchdogs received reports of a boating accident involving multiple patients. Around 10:25 on Saturday.

Crews from the USCG’s Miami Beach and Islamorada stations were dispatched to near North Carson Road and Card Sound, northwest of Pumpkin Key.

Investigators with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said the 34-foot Nor-Tech, with three people on board, was heading south when the person driving the boat made a sudden turn, knocking everyone into the water.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue air crew lifted two of the victims to safety using a basket, authorities said.

Divers searched for the third boater and located the victim.

Patients were transported to a local hospital due to a trauma alert. Unfortunately, FWC officials said one of them died from his injuries.

FWC continues to investigate the incident.
