Three people were displaced and 10 cats were rescued during a structure fire in Akron on Saturday, according to the Akron Fire Department.

According to the fire department, firefighters responded to the 700 block of Salida Avenue for a report of a fire in a residential structure around 3:11 p.m.

The ministry said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found a two-and-a-half-story occupied house with heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor.

Officials said the Red Cross was contacted for the three people displaced by the incident and 10 cats were rescued from the building.

Authorities reported that there were no injuries.

Fire crews were able to enter the building and extinguish the fire, the ministry said.

It is unknown what caused the fire.
