(Gray News) – Six Flags has no plans to close any of its parks, despite rumors that it will evaluate its options this week.

“We have no plans to close the parks,” Six Flags Director of Corporate Communications Gary Rhodes confirmed in an email Friday.

Reports of possible closures come after Six Flags Entertainment Corporation released its new decision. quarterly earnings report Wednesday was the first since its merger with Cedar Fair.

Some media outlets said this The earnings report suggested that Six Flags would consider closing at least some of its 42 locations as part of its long-term business plan, but there is nothing in the report that directly addresses this.

As part of the company’s plan, Six Flags will “review its park portfolio over time to optimize its asset base, narrow management’s focus and help reduce net leverage,” the earnings report said.

But that doesn’t mean closing the parks, as Rhodes confirmed in his email.

Highlights from the quarterly earnings report noted that Six Flags revenue totaled $1.35 billion and 21 million guests attended the parks.

Six Flags President and CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said in the news release that the last five weeks of the quarter showed particularly strong results, with attendance increasing by more than 1 million people compared to the same period last year.
