MSU Football 2027 Target Near the Top in New Rankings

The Michigan State Spartans want to maintain the foothold they’ve built for recruiting in their home state. Each class had a primary goal for green and white in the state. The 2025 class had prospects like Jace Clarizio, Elijah Dotson (who chose Pittsburgh) and Derek Simmons.

The class of 2026 will have a number of priority in-state targets. The lesson is extremely deep. Offensive lineman Ben Nichols of Davison is probably near or at the top of the Spartans’ wish list. Running back Kory Amachree, athlete CJ Sadler and former offensive lineman Gregory Patrick are also there.

The 2027 class is a bit more of a mystery right now, but Detroit Country Day’s final pick, elite four-star pass catcher Anthony Cartwright, listed as the No. 10 athlete in the country, could be a safe bet. .

Hartland’s William Tobin will be an offensive lineman in 2027 and I think will be a primary target for the Spartans. Tobin is 6-foot-1, 290 pounds and has the build that offensive line coach Jim Michalczik would like as a high school sophomore. Tobin currently has one offer from Central Michigan.

He is listed as the No. 1 offensive lineman in the state of Michigan and the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2027 class by Pred Red Zone. I talked to Tobin, who told me what the coaches were saying.

“A lot of colleges definitely love my size and my footwork,” Tobin said. “They like to see my strength, and that’s mostly what recruiters tell me. They really like my size and strength.”

Tobin has a solid relationship with the Spartans, but it’s still early in the process. visited Michigan State home openerIt’s safe to say that this was a foundational experience for both him and the program.

“This weekend was a phenomenal time,” Tobin said. “I came with my teammate Jack Lansing (a 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety car with a 4.5 40), we were both invited, we went in, and it was a phenomenal experience in East Lansing. Great crowd experience, amazing “Obviously we got there, the coaches were all fantastic, it was an absolutely surreal experience to get closer and build more relationships with their coaches. It was something I’ve never experienced before, hopefully I can come back for another game later this season.”
