Cirencester community center opens on former House of Fraser site

A group of social enterprises have opened in a former department store building.

The community centre, which includes a pay-what-you-can restaurant and bike repair workshop, first opened at Brimscombe Mill in Stroud and has now expanded to a second site at the former House of Fraser site in Cirencester.

This comes after months of uncertainty about the future of the organisations’ original homes. They were told to leave in March.

The new center opened on Friday with shared kitchen The Long Table, a spokesman said: “We couldn’t be more excited to have you on board.”

Organizers of The Long Table Cirencester explained in a Facebook post: “Every meal prepared from the kitchen is served on a pay-what-you-can basis, helping to create a space where everyone can enjoy great food, whatever their circumstances.”

They added: “It will be great to see everyone experience this incredible space.

“Huge thanks to our incredible team, volunteers, and community for making this happen.”
