Modi slams Congress over Article 370 decision, saying party has ignored Ambedkar | Latest News India

NAGPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress in poll-bound Maharashtra on Saturday for supporting a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly calling for restoration of Article 370, saying it reflects the party’s disregard for the Constitution and the law . architect BR Ambedkar.

Addressing an election rally in Akola, Modi said, “Congress wants to push Jammu and Kashmir back into violence by bringing back Article 370. Article 370 will never be brought back.” he said.

Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Modi stated that the Congress leader, who often defended the Constitution in meetings, was now advocating the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir; this is a position that is completely at odds with Ambedkar’s vision.

Modi said that the Congress and its leader, who appeared to protect the Constitution through Samvidhan Samman Sammelans, were actually completely against the Constitution and opposed Ambedkar while he was alive and even today, disregarding the Constitution of India.

Modi said that despite the Congress leader publicly holding the Constitution, his party has repeatedly insulted Ambedkar’s legacy and alleged that the Congress and its allies have blatantly disregarded the Ambedkar Constitution, the rule of law and the sentiments of the Indian people.

Modi said India has effectively operated under two constitutions for 75 years, one in Jammu and Kashmir and the other in the rest of the country, and strengthening the Congress would lead to the nation becoming weak and helpless.

“The Congress knows that the weaker the country, the stronger the party will be. When the Congress becomes stronger, the nation becomes weaker. “That’s why they pit different castes against each other,” he said.

He also accused the Congress of obstructing unity among the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) and alleged that the party was promoting division to fragment votes and reduce their collective strength.

“If you remain divided among your castes, the Congress will use this division to disenfranchise the SC community and form its own government at your expense,” he said.

Reiterating the mantra “Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai” (United We Are Safe), Modi urged voters to unite and warned of the Congress’s “dangerous game” aimed at creating discord.

Reflecting on his relationship with Vidarbha, Modi said, “The blessings of Vidarbha have always been special to me. “Once again, I have come to seek your support for Mahayuti in the assembly elections.”

Pointing out the importance of November 9, he emphasized its historical importance, saying that the Supreme Court gave its decision on the Ram temple on this day in 2019. “This date will be commemorated with the sensitivity shown by people of all religions following the Supreme Court’s decision. “The spirit of putting the nation first is a great strength of India,” he concluded.
