Legendary sarangi player Pandit Ram Narayan passed away at the age of 96

Legendary sarangi artist Pandit Ram Narayan died on November 9 at the age of 96. Born in 1927, Narayan was a famous Hindustani musician and sarangi master. He was the recipient of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan paid tribute to Pandit Ram Narayan in touched hearts and heavens (sic).”

He further adds: “According to true Indian tradition, Pt Narayan passed on the knowledge of Sarangi to a large number of his disciples from India and abroad. His divine music will live on for centuries. With his death, an era in Sarangi ended (sic). “

Sangeet Natak Akademi wrote about “Today, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved and pray that God Almighty gives them enough strength to bear this irreparable loss.”

Official “In the world of classical music, he has become almost synonymous with his instrument (sic).”

Pandit Ram Narayan was celebrated for bringing the sarangi, a traditional Indian string instrument, to prominence as a solo concert instrument. His extraordinary artistry has earned him global recognition through his performances around the world. His work has inspired countless musicians and passed on the rich heritage of sarangi to future generations.
