I’m leaving you like a Slot Potato

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has told Jamie Carragher he was not ‘well informed’ about his style of play.

Following the Reds’ 2-1 comeback win against Brighton, club legend Carragher claimed Slot did not want to see his side playing ‘end-to-end football’ like under Jurgen Klopp.

However, days later the Dutchman rejected the analysis and stated that the main reason for his recruitment was his similarity to his German predecessor.

Speaking to CBS Sports after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, he said: “Most of the time in your career you’re right, in this case maybe you weren’t well informed enough… Jurgen liked it.

“I think one of the reasons Liverpool came to me is because our style of play is quite similar.

“I agree with you about Jamie, maybe it’s about the ball… Risk versus reward, sometimes waiting a little bit longer to play the ball in back.

“But what we always ask of our players is to put really hard pressure on them, and that’s what we did in the moments you showed.”

Slot later added insult to injury when he twice snubbed Carragher at the CBS panel when asked to pick his favorite; Carragher was joined by Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and presenter Kate Scott.

“You want an honest answer? Then of course it’ll be Kate!” Slot smiled.

“But if I have to choose between three guys, then (Liverpool) press officer Tony will probably tell me I should choose the one who plays for Liverpool. “But I come from a period where I watched Dennis Bergkamp a lot for Arsenal, along with Thierry Henry, so that’s why. ..”
