LAFC – Vancouver Whitecaps score, result: Mateusz Bogusz lifts Los Angeles with second half goal

LAFC’s 2024 season will resume following Friday night’s chess match against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Los Angeles. It was Polish Mateusz Bogusz who played the hero role with the goal he scored in the second half to beat Los Angeles 1-0 in the 3rd game of the three-game series to open the MLS Cup Play-offs.

Denis Bouanga, who scored 20 goals in the regular season for LAFC, had a scoring opportunity in the side net in the eighth minute as the home team made an early attack. Despite gaining all the momentum in their favor after a 3-0 win in the second leg, the Whitecaps were unable to find a clear goal in a mostly dominant first half. Brian White had a great shot blocked by Hugo Lloris, then headed wide left a second before half-time.

LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo then changed course in the second half with a new formation and introduced Olivier Giroud, who made an immediate impact. However, Bogusz could only put the Black-Gold team ahead in the 62nd minute and advance to the second round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

LAFC will now face the Seattle Sounders, who have won two straight against the Houston Dynamo, in the single-elimination Western Conference semifinals on the weekend of November 23-24.
