Representative Jared Moskowitz A convicted felon armed with a rifle, suppressor and body armor was arrested Monday near his Florida home along with a manifesto and plans to harm himself, the House (D-FL) announced Friday.

In addition to “anti-Semitic rhetoric”, the manifesto allegedly includes a list of targets including: 43 year old.

Inside a statement Posting on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Moskowitz said, “It is a great honor to serve my constituents, but he put my family in danger.” In a longer statement, Moskowitz added:

The day before the election, I was notified of a potential plot on my life by the Margate Police Department in my Congressional District. The person in question was arrested near my home; he is an ex-con who has a rifle, a suppressor, and body armor. A manifesto was found next to him, which contained, among other things, anti-Semitic rhetoric and included only my name on the “target” list.

There are many other details that I will not disclose because I do not want to interfere with an ongoing investigation. I want to thank local law enforcement, the U.S. Marshall Islands, the FBI, the U.S. Capitol Police, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. As someone assigned to the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump, I understand the failures and their importance in restoring the protection of our current and future Commander in Chief and Vice President.

At the same time, I am deeply concerned about the safety of members of Congress and the significant lack of that security when we are in the area. Regardless of our political leanings or differences, we all have families we want to keep safe.

Moskowitz was first elected in 2022 to represent Florida’s 23rd congressional district. He was re-elected Tuesday after narrowly defeating his Republican opponent. Joe Kaufman.
