Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz said Friday that he was notified of an alleged threat to his life by local police in his district on Monday and that the investigation into the alleged plot was still ongoing.

The Margate Police Department confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection with the incident and detectives recovered multiple firearms as well as other evidence related to the incident. The suspect was identified as 41-year-old John Lapinski of Margate. According to NBC News.

Moskowitz, who represents parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties, said he was notified of the threat the day before the general election. Associated Press predicted Moskowitz, who is Jewish, was re-elected for a second term on Tuesday.

“I am deeply concerned about the safety of members of Congress and this lack of security when we are in the area,” Moskowitz said in a speech. expression. “Regardless of our political leanings or differences, we all have families we want to keep safe.”

The congressman said the arrested man was found carrying a manifesto at the time of his arrest that included anti-Semitic rhetoric and a “target list” that included only Moskowitz’s name.

Police also said the suspect was arrested for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and other gun-related charges.
