TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Toledo Police are asking for the community’s help finding a man accused of murder.

Detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Deondrae Ballard in connection with the murder of a young mother.

“I want everyone to know that she was a good mother,” the victim’s daughter said.

Elisha Meraz’s family misses him every day.

The 32-year-old woman was shot and killed outside a bar near Church Street and Prentice Avenue last month.

Her daughter said her mother had a caring heart.

“You know some kids who don’t have things to give them clothes, shoes, gloves, hats and things like that. Even the kids who came here and played didn’t really have anything and we would give them things, snacks and things like that,” her daughter said.

Toledo Police are searching for Ballard, whom detectives have accused of murder.

Police said the young mother was not the intended target.

The victim’s family said Meraz did not know Ballard and was caught in the crossfire.

“At first I was like my mother. “I couldn’t believe it at first,” said the victim’s daughter.

The victim’s family hopes that if you see Deondrae Ballard, you will contact the police.

Toledo police say you could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 if you help them find Ballard.
