Arizona Cardinals Rule 2 Starters Questionable Against New York Jets

ARIZONA — The Arizona Cardinals are checking on safety Jalen Thompson (ankle) and Jonah Williams (knee) ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the New York Jets.

Thompson, who practiced well on Wednesday, appeared on Arizona’s injury report Thursday but was still available and showed limited activity. There was no game Friday for Thompson, who has played in every game this season and put his status on the line in the Cardinals’ final game before their bye week.

If Thompson can’t play, Arizona will likely use backup Joey Blount or rookie Dadrion Taylor-Demerson.

Two weeks ago, Blount gave Pat Tillman the scout team player of the week award.

“Joey Blount had an excellent week. He’s a guy you know what he does on the benches for us. He’s ready to step up defensively for us, but he’s one of those guys when it comes to keeping the team positive and engaged,” he said. head coach Jonathan Gannon.

“He’s an energizer. He’s got a smile on his face. He trains very well. This was a really good acquisition by Monti last year and he’s done a lot for us. He’s an impact player.”

Williams, who saw a 21-day practice window open last week to return from injured reserve, has practiced every day and could push to play on Sunday, although Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported earlier in the week that the Cardinals were likely to rest him. until after the bye week.

Kelvin Beachum, who has been filling in since Week 1, will take his place at right tackle again if Williams cannot go.

The Cardinals left Darius Robinson out for another week because the rookie has yet to make his debut.

Beachum is joined by LJ Collier, James Conner, Naquan Jones, Roy Lopez and Sean Murphy-Bunting as players who showed signs of injury throughout the week but were sent off and given the green light for Sunday.

As for the Jets, they dealt Jake Hanson and CJ Mosley ahead of Week 10.

It is stated that six players are doubtful for New York, including Michael Carter, Tyler Conklin, Morgan Moses, Chazz Surratt, Solomon Thomas and Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Tony Adams, Ashtyn Davis, Aaron Rodgers, John Simpson and Tyron Smith are all stripped and ready to rock.

Both teams will have the opportunity to make two standard practice squad upgrades on Saturday. Official inactives will be held 90 minutes prior to kickoff at State Farm Stadium.
