Rodhouse was found guilty of all 19 charges after the jury deliberated for four hours; Sentencing date set for January 15 – Muddy River News

PITTSFIELD — An eight-woman, four-man jury found Austin Rodhouse guilty of all 19 charges Friday afternoon after deliberating for more than four hours.

As each of the 19 domestic violence and sex-related charges were read aloud, along with a guilty verdict, by Pike County Circuit Officer Bryce Gleckler, Rodhouse shook his leg and continued to scribble on the paper in front of him, shaking his head occasionally.

Judge Charles HW Burch set Rodhouse’s sentencing date of January 15.

The jury found Rodhouse, a Pleasant Hill native, guilty of:

  • A Class 2 aggravated domestic violence crime with a sentence range of 3 to 7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
  • 1st criminal sexual assault involving force, a Class 1 felony punishable by four to 15 years.
  • 4 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault on a child, a Class X felony punishable by six to 60 years in prison.
  • Three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
  • 2 counts of child pornography, a Class X felony with a sentence ranging from six to 30 years.
  • 3 counts of indecent harassment of an adult, a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison.
  • Three counts of aggravated battery on a child, a Class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison.

If Rodhouse felt any emotion as the verdict was read, his face did not show it.

Meanwhile, Rodhouse’s wife, identified in court documents as CC, his family and others supporting him sat silently in the gallery as instructed by Burch. Many appeared to be crying, occasionally wiping their eyes with tissues.

The verdict followed a harrowing nine-day trial in which jurors were presented with what Pike County Assistant State’s Attorney Leecia Carnes called “revealing and vile” evidence, including the use of various sex toys and other assorted items at Rodhouse’s Pleasant Hill home came. He said that he harmed his wife and two sons, aged 3 and 4.

Numerous photos showing black eyes, bruises and bloody eyelash marks revealed how much CC was abused by Rodhouse. Several explicit photographs and videos depicted the severity and intensity of the abuse, including sexual abuse of the couple’s two young children; CC testified that Rodhouse forced him to perform.

“The defendant began playing games in his childhood,” Carnes said in his closing argument earlier in the day. “He never expected anyone to beat him as an adult.”
