Mother and son accused of shooting one man and stabbing another during argument in Rochester

Rochester, NY— A mother and her son are facing charges following a violent encounter on the city’s east side last month.

Police said on Oct. 23, Raquel Quinn, 35, got into an argument on East Main Street with two men, ages 35 and 36, with whom she had recently had a baby, and left. She eventually returned with her 19-year-old son, Christopher Bermudez.

The couple allegedly shot one of the men, stabbed the other and ran away. The shooting victim was rushed into surgery, stabilized and survived. The stabbed suspect also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Bermudez was taken into custody Tuesday on Dewey Boulevard. Quinn was taken into custody on Winton Road on Thursday.

Police also seized two firearms, including a stolen shotgun, from a home on Dewey Avenue as part of the investigation.

Bermudez and Quinn are charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Quinn is also charged with reckless endangerment. He will appear in court on Friday.

Bermudez appeared in court Wednesday and was released after posting $5,000 bail, police said.

He was charged with defamation in July and released without bail. That charge is still pending in court.
