Will USC Trojans Quarterback Miller Moss Enter the Transfer Portal After Backup?

USC Trojans officially made a quarterback change, starting transfer rumors about quarterback Miller Moss. with the quarterback Jayden Maiava begins Going forward, there’s a chance that Moss’ time with the Trojans may end after this year.

Maiava will make his debut on November 16 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Moss earned the starting job over the summer, but the transfer portal was torn between Maiava and the point guard acquisition Julian Lewis Committed to USC, this season may be Moss’ last with the Trojans.

Moss has only one year of eligibility remaining and will likely look to spend his senior year at a school where he can play. This leaves room for speculation as to where Moss will play next season. It’s still early and the transfer portal hasn’t warmed up yet. However, it is not difficult to predict which teams may need a point guard next season.

A landing spot could be in the Big Ten with the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan has faced a plethora of quarterbacks this season and none of them have found any consistency. Moss now has a year of experience playing for Big Ten teams and could fit in at Michigan.

The Colorado Buffaloes are a less likely destination, but quarterback Shedeur Sanders heading to the NFL in 2025 could be a possibility. Quarterback is a position of need, but the Buffaloes may be looking for a more mobile quarterback. If schools want someone with experience, Moss is also a possibility.

As the transfer portal becomes a more common discussion, more schools will emerge as a possibility for Moss’ future. Moss has playing experience, and top teams like the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs tried to recruit him before he committed to USC. Moss’ future in college football remains open ahead of his final year of eligibility.

There’s also a chance Moss chooses to remain with the USC Trojans in 2025. USC coach talking to media Lincoln Riley spoke Moss’ future.

“He just has to be ready for the next opportunity. We never know how it’s going to turn out, so I’ve been in situations where something like this happens and a guy goes to another school and ends up playing in the NFL,” Riley said. “I’ve been through these situations where a guy sits down, doesn’t play for a while, comes back and plays better and takes control and runs away.”

The starting quarterback for USC’s 2025 team is still unknown. There will be a competition in the summer, just like there is going into the 2024 season. If Maiava finishes the season strong, he could be that guy. If Lewis keeps his promise, playing time won’t be guaranteed, but there’s always a chance. The Trojans could also target a quarterback in the transfer portal.

Moss could still end up with the USC Trojans. With a year of experience and growth, Moss could become even stronger in 2025. He has a chance to play one final season at USC.

Moss’ future will be something to watch as the 2024 season comes to an end soon. While nothing is official, there’s a good chance the Trojans’ quarterback will enter the portal. For now, he is still with the USC Trojans as we approach the end of the season.
