Bend Police investigating possible stabbing in Juniper Park; man taken to hospital, nearby schools alerted

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A possible stabbing Friday morning in Juniper Park in northeast Bend sent a man with minor injuries to the hospital and sent out officers searching for a possible suspect, while nearby school and park officials were notified as a precaution.

Bend Police Communications Director Sheila Miller said shortly before 9 a.m. a passerby called to report the incident.

“The male victim had a superficial wound to his wrist area,” Miller said. “Although we have no idea when or where the incident may have occurred, we are looking for a possible suspect.”

Miller said police alerted nearby schools and Bend Park and Recreation District officials due to the number of officers working in the area surrounding the park.

Bend-La Pine Schools spokesman Scott Maben said schools in the area have been notified of the situation and school resource officers “will advise us if precautionary measures are needed.”
