Two teenagers who threw fireworks at police in a Sheffield park have been jailed for violent disorder.

The boys, aged 16 and 17, were part of a group who threw fireworks, eggs and other objects at police in Firth Park on November 5 last year.

Police used CCTV footage and body-worn camera footage to identify the couple, who cannot be named due to their age.

The pair pleaded guilty to violent disorder at South Yorkshire Youth Court on Thursday and were ordered to be referred to the Sheffield Youth Offenders Panel.

They were also both ordered to pay costs.

A third boy, aged 15, also admitted to violence during police interrogation and was given a conditional warning.

PC Dominic Feria, the officer in charge of this case, said: “The behavior displayed by those involved in this incident was disgraceful.

“Not only were officers at risk of serious injury, but the public was also endangered.

“I hope this outcome serves as a reminder to people considering engaging in anti-social behavior and violent disorder that they will be caught and face justice.”
