A serious crash in Chilliwack forced the closure of Highway 1 in both directions Friday morning.

DriveBC posted on social media shortly before 6 a.m. that it had received “reports of a vehicle crash” between Annis Road and Highway 9.

Footage shared in response to DriveBC’s post shows a semi-truck lying on its side along the road.

Authorities closed the highway in both directions and directed eastbound travelers to get off at Exit 129 and take Annis Road to Yale Road. Westbound travelers were detoured via Highway 9.

DriveBC highway cameras showed a long line of traffic forming at the Annis Road exit.

“We expect delays,” DriveBC said.
