David Gilmour Discusses The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz Theory

David Gilmour was a guest The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday night, November 7, legendary Pink Floyd The late-night host quizzed the singer-guitarist about the long-standing theory surrounding the album Dark Side of the Moon and movie The Wizard of Oz.

This has led some people to think that Pink Floyd deliberately recorded the 1973 album to synchronize it with the 1939 film; Fallon asked Gilmour this question. The Tonight Show.

“Of course it was,” Gilmour joked, before revealing that he and wife Polly Samson had tried it. “Polly and I listened to this years ago,” the rock icon continued, before Fallon asked again if the band planned this on purpose. Gilmour replied: “No. I only heard about it years later.”

Gilmour later added: “Someone said you put the needle in… and on the third roar of the MGM lion, you put the needle in for the beginning. Dark Side and strange synchronicities emerge.”

“There are these weird coincidences,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer admitted.

Fallon later joked maybe if fans played Gilmour’s new solo album. Luck and Strangewhile they watch the new movie BadGilmour’s “Who knows?” The same kinds of synchronicities would occur that he exclaimed.

Elsewhere in the interview, Gilmour touched on whether his famous cough from the song “Wish You Were Here” caused him to quit smoking. He also talked about his early days as a male model.
