Sharon Otieno Murder: Court Will Decide Whether Okoth Obado and 2 Others Have a Case to Answer

Judge Cecilia Githua closed the case on Friday, November 8, after the parties presented their final arguments.

Obado, through his legal team, tried to convince the court that he had no involvement in Sharon’s murder.

Obado’s defense, led by lawyer Kioko Kiukumi, argued that he was in an open relationship and expressed his desire to support the unborn child he was carrying when he met his death.

The former district chairman touched on the claim that Sharon’s real killers have not yet been caught, even though six years have passed since this heinous murder.

Others accused along with Obado are Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero.

The duo denied the accusations made against them by the prosecutor’s office and stated that there was no evidence to definitively link them to the murder.

42 witnesses have testified since the trial began in 2018.

Testimony of 42nd witness in Sharon Otieno murder case

The last witness, Chief Inspector Nicholas Ole Sena, He told the court that Obado’s PA contacted the deceased on the day he was killed. Ole Sena disclosed that Oyamo invited Sharon to a hotel in Rongo and Sharon arrived there before meeting her death.

Ole Sena’s statement also confirmed to the court that the findings of DNA tests showed that there was a 99.99% probability that Obado was the father of Sharon’s unborn child.

Through his narrative, the detective recommended charging the three defendants with murder.

He requested that he be provided with the police-recorded statements of his son, Dan Obado.

A witness had previously testified that he suspected Obado’s son of having a romantic relationship with Sharon.

Taxi The driver, Jackson Otieno Gombe, also testified against Obado, claiming that he drove the men who took Sharon into the forest, adding that they never returned with Obado.

Sharon had an unborn child at the time of her death.

His body was found in a forest in Uriri and autopsy findings showed that he died due to forced trauma.
