Eastbound lanes of HRBT reopened after cooking oil spill caused traffic halt

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – UPDATE: All eastbound and westbound lanes are open. However, we still have heavy but stable traffic. MMMBT has also reopened its southbound lanes, but traffic is still backed up.

A cooking oil leak is blamed for the traffic halt on HRBT on Friday morning. The eastbound lanes of I-64 were closed just after 4:30 Friday morning. There were intermittent stops on westbound I-64 to allow drivers to get stuck in the eastbound lanes.

Additionally, all I-664 southbound lanes at MMMBT in Newport News were closed due to the crash.
