A woman was killed in a motorcycle crash on West Union Street in Newark on Thursday.

According to police, at around 4:43 p.m., a male driver and a female passenger were riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk when the driver tried to get back onto the road.

The rear tire of the motorcycle hit the pavement, causing the passenger to skid and hit the pole. Police confirmed he did not survive.

Myanna Ward, a witness at the scene, described the incident as sudden and violent, saying she and her mother performed CPR on one of the victims. The Newark Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
