Karnataka Yoga teacher kidnapped and attacked in forest survives by faking death

The 34-year-old yoga teacher miraculously survived a horrific kidnapping, harassment and attempted murder thanks to her expertise in breath control techniques. The victim was abducted from near Devanahalli, taken to a nearby forest, stripped, abused and strangled by her kidnappers.

On October 23, the yoga instructor faked her death by deceiving the attackers. The kidnappers thought they had killed him and threw him into a pit. Thereupon, they took all the jewels on him and ran away. The yoga teacher managed to escape and get medical help, The Times Of India reported.

The victim managed to free himself from the pit and borrowed clothing from nearby people to protect himself. The next day, he was admitted to a government hospital in Sidlaghatta, Chikballapur, for medical treatment and reported the incident to the authorities.

According to police sources, the kidnapping was staged by 27-year-old Bindu, who suspected that her husband Santosh Kumar was close to the yoga instructor. Bindu told her friend Satish Reddy, who runs a private detective agency in Bengaluru, to investigate the woman. Satish allegedly befriended the yoga teacher on the pretext of learning yoga.

On October 23, Satish asked the teacher to accompany him for rifle shooting near his home. While the yoga teacher was in her car, three more men and a boy got into the car. They went to a forest area in Dhanamittenahalli, Sidlaghatta taluk, where they threatened, stripped and harassed her. The attackers then tried to strangle him with a cable.

The yoga teacher later told police that her lucidity and ability to hold her breath as part of her yoga techniques saved her life. He pretended to be dead, and his captors buried him in a pit, believing they had succeeded. He managed to escape and borrow clothes from nearby residents before checking himself into a government hospital in Sidlaghatta.

Police arrested seven persons, including Bindu, Satish Reddy (40), Ramana (34), Nagendra Reddy (35), Ravichandra (27) and a minor from different parts of Karnataka. The accused hail from various parts of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
