James ordered Trump to pay $454 million in bond earlier this year as part of a civil fraud lawsuit filed against the former commander in chief. The New York AG accused Trump of overinflating the value of his assets to get better loans.

Trump later appealed the decision. His lawyers called New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision “draconian, illegal and unconstitutional.”

During his interview with Johnson, Davis also took shots at Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who filed criminal charges against Trump for his allegations of trying to overturn the 2020 election.

Willis made headlines just a month after his term ended, announcing in February 2021 that he was investigating whether Trump and others broke any laws in trying to hand his narrow loss in the state to Biden.

The case is largely on hold as Trump and other defendants appeal the judge’s decision allowing Willis to proceed with the case.
