San Antonio restaurants make big progress after low health scores

Roy’s Pronto Taco Shack

Roy’s Pronto Taco Hut, located at 246 Historic Old Highway 90 West, is making a big comeback.

“Better,” replied supervisor Sergio Barela. “Much better.”

Inspectors found all kinds of violations, including dead cockroaches, rodent droppings in several areas, and dead insects in light shields, all of which were cleaned up.

“That was bad,” Barela admitted. But after that we tried to make the situation better.”

Las Quesadillas Poblanas

In November 2023, Metro Health gave Las Quesadillas Poblanas, located at 7444 West Military Drive, a score of 66 on its health inspection.

At that time they found Various issues with food temperatures and cleanliness.

In August 2024, the restaurant’s score increased to 93.

KSAT visited the restaurant and found that the health department had temporarily suspended the restaurant’s license because CPS reported the electricity was not working.

The notice hung on the door of the restaurant stated that the landlord changed the locks because he could not pay the rent.
