LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – If you missed early fall vaccinations against respiratory infections, doctors and pharmacists say they are available even at fewer locations. Health officials say it’s important for people to protect themselves against respiratory viruses ahead of the holidays.

“Obviously with winter coming to Michigan, we’re all flocking indoors and unfortunately we’re all spreading germs because of that closeness, it’s RSV season, it’s COVID season, it’s flu season and you want to get vaccinated before these viruses start circulating,” he said. With Rite Aids closing in our area, other pharmacies were forced to take action. Vroman says Meijer is ready for the rush.

“We’ve seen an increase in business, but we’re very skilled, we’re ready to take care of patients and help the community maintain good health and protect against flu and COVID and things like that. We are absolutely ready to see more patients, increase our patient base and help the community in any way we can,” Vroman said.

Meijer comes for vaccinations without an appointment, and also texts and calls before leaving.

Health officials say there is no peak in respiratory viruses for now and it probably won’t occur for another 6 weeks.
