Two House Democrats this week criticized their party over transgender athletes playing in women’s sports and on Tuesday blamed Democrats’ failures on the party’s leftist extremism.

Democratic New York Rep. Tom Suozzi, who supported legislation strengthening transgender rights during his first House term in 2017, admitted that he doesn’t think athletes born male should play athletes born female.

Suozzi: “Democrats should stop pandering to the far left” he told the New York Times on Wednesday. “I don’t want to discriminate against anyone, but I don’t think biological males should play in girls’ sports. “Democrats aren’t saying that and they need to say that.”

Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton acknowledged Thursday that his party is concerned about offending people for being dishonest.

“Democrats spend too much time trying not to offend anyone, instead of being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face,” Moulton said in a statement to the press on Thursday. “I have two little girls, I don’t want them to get run over on the playing field by a male or former male athlete, but as a Democrat I shouldn’t be afraid to say that.”

Moulton has joined fellow House Democrats in supporting transgender rights since 2015, and last spring voted against Florida Republican Rep. Greg Steube’s “Protecting Women and Girls in Sports Act.” According to The Hill.

The Massachusetts Democrat also sponsored the House Democrats’ Transgender Bill of Rights; This Declaration included protections for transgender athletes who wish to play on sports teams that match their gender identity rather than their birth sex.
