LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — After a woman was fatally stabbed in Lancaster County, the victim’s family started a GoFundMe campaign to receive donations toward funeral expenses.

East Hempfield Police say Carmen Martinez-Silva was found with multiple stab wounds at a residence in the 2900 block of Dell Lane. After the first intervention, emergency services determined that Martinez-Silva died at the scene.

Authorities say Benjamin Garcia-Gual was charged with multiple felonies, including murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault, after police found him sitting in his car with a silver kitchen knife.

Police documents state the attack began after Garcia-Gual threatened to stab Martinez-Silva for cutting his hair.

Martinez-Silva’s family released a statement along with the fundraiser, expressing how devastated their family was after an “unimaginable tragedy.”
