2 killed in accident that failed to obey stop sign in Gratiot County

SEVILLE TWP, MI — Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Gratiot County.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash scene at M-46 and Warner Road in Seville Township around 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6. When they arrived, they found a 54-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, both from the same country. Sumner died in a vehicle.

Deputies determined that the woman was traveling north on Warner Road and was not paying attention to the stop sign on M-46. Deputies said his vehicle was struck side-by-side by a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old Riverdale man who may have been speeding.

Deputies said paramedics took the 61-year-old man to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Deputies did not disclose the names of the deceased pending notification of their relatives.
