STAMFORD, CT (WFSB) – A man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Stamford early Thursday morning.

Stamford police said the driver was identified only as a 44-year-old Stamford resident.

They said the crash happened around 12:10 a.m. on Long Ridge Road near Brook Run Lane.

The driver of a 2014 BMW motorcycle was traveling north on Long Ridge Road when the driver left the roadway and struck a fence and tree.

The person was thrown from the bike.

Police determined that the driver died at the scene.
