Driver claims ‘eating fries’ caused his car to be parked at concrete barricade – Nelson News

90-Day Driving Ban

A Trail woman was issued a Roadside Curfew after driving a vehicle into a concrete barricade in Silver City on Sunday, November 3.

Trail and Greater District RCMP said an officer was called to the intersection of Glover Road and McAnally Street and found the 33-year-old Trail woman inside her vehicle parked on top of a concrete barricade.

RCMP said the officer arrived at the scene and located the woman, who was uninjured.

“The woman claimed she was eating fries and was distracted by her phone ringing while driving when she hit the barricade,” Trail RCMP said. he said.

RCMP said the officer believed the woman’s ability to operate a motor vehicle might be impaired by alcohol and that the woman, who provided a breath sample at the roadside, was read a request that resulted in the impairment.

Trail RCMP said the driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under Section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act.

The vehicle was impounded for up to 30 days.
